Overview
The idea behind
Ben Carter Plumbing.
A self-initiated local service website built around three questions: what work is offered, who will do it, and how to explain the job. The concept pairs a named person with clear service information and a short enquiry planner, developed from the original Ben Carter website and showcase film.
Homeowners who need help with a leaking tap, toilet, household pipework or bathroom plumbing and want an approachable first point of contact.
The brief
Make the next step feel straightforward.
A homeowner should not need plumbing vocabulary to ask for help. The brief was to make the services understandable, introduce the person behind the business and give visitors a short, structured way to describe their job.
The direction
Be specific about the work.
The content focuses on plumbing: taps and leaks, toilets and pipework, and bathroom fittings. Each service opens the planner with the relevant option selected. The descriptive ben-carter-plumbing URL makes the project easier to recognise and share.
The design
Personal, practical and easy to read.
Navy typography, an amber action colour and pale blue supporting tones give the site a practical identity. Services use a clear editorial sequence. The portrait introduces the fictional sole trader without invented reviews or accreditation badges.

The build
Ask only what helps explain the job.
Native radio groups support keyboard use. Visitors can go back, change a service and review the resulting summary; incompatible job selections are cleared. The demonstration collects no personal details and sends nothing.
The fictional business demo is excluded from search indexing. A production plumber website would need verified business details, genuine service areas and an operational contact destination before making local search claims.
