Website redesign for small businesses.

Bring your website up to date with the business you run now. I review the existing site with you, then redesign the content, layouts and contact route around what your customers need.

Discuss your redesign

Start with the parts that get in the way.

Your services may have changed. Customers may struggle to find the right page or contact you on a phone. The redesign starts by identifying those problems and the useful parts of the site you already have.

Help deciding between a refresh and a rebuild

Content that reflects your business

We review the service information, page structure and navigation. You confirm the business facts, and we agree who will write, edit and supply the content. Useful existing pages and assets become part of that decision.

A clearer route to an enquiry

The layout should help a visitor choose a service and take the next step. We define what your contact form, phone link or booking tool must do, then design its mobile layout, labels and feedback around that task.

Development matched to the problem

I assess whether the current setup supports the agreed work. The proposal identifies what can be improved in place and what needs replacing, including any connected tools or editing requirements that affect the build.

Work on this website

A specific problem.
A measured change.

The Digital Upstream homepage was spending substantial time rendering its decorative artwork. I retained the visual idea, changed the animation implementation and improved project-image delivery.

These recorded PageSpeed laboratory runs from 26 October 2026 show the result of that work. They measure my own website, and do not establish a real-user Core Web Vitals pass, a ranking increase or more enquiries.

Scores vary between tests. The mobile result still left room to improve. The recorded runs preceded a later font-loading cleanup.

The proposal should explain the whole change.

Pages, content responsibilities, design feedback, development, launch and handover need a shared scope. Hosting, subscriptions and ongoing support are discussed alongside the build.

See what affects a website quote
  1. Review the current site

Share your URL, the problems you have noticed and anything that must continue working. We identify important pages, account owners, business email and connected tools. Existing search or enquiry data can help set priorities.

  2. Design and build the agreed changes

I develop the page structure, visual direction and responsive layouts with the content we have agreed. You review the work at the planned stages, with additional requirements discussed before they are added.

  3. Check the move before launch

The launch plan covers content, links, contact behaviour, page titles and crawl settings. We identify changed page addresses and their redirects, test important paths and agree access and handover. Business email is accounted for in any hosting or DNS changes.

Questions about a redesign.

Does a redesign mean replacing the whole website?

It depends on the current setup and the changes you need. A useful existing design, page structure or integration may stay. I assess the requirements with you before proposing a focused refresh or a larger rebuild.

What happens to existing Google traffic?

We identify useful existing pages and keep their addresses where appropriate. When an address changes, the launch plan maps it to a relevant replacement and checks the redirect. Titles, internal links, canonical URLs and sitemap entries also need to match. Rankings can fluctuate after changes, so existing traffic cannot be guaranteed.

How much will it cost, and how long will it take?

The quote and schedule follow the agreed pages, content, functionality, access and feedback stages. There is no fixed redesign package price listed here. Tell me your budget boundary and any deadline so we can discuss a realistic scope.

What should I send first?

Your current URL, what the business does and the main thing you want to improve. Mention any booking tool, business email or feature that must keep working. You can prepare the rest with the website brief guide.

current site needs to do better.

Send the website address and the problems you have noticed. We can discuss the next step before you decide how much to replace.
